What is the endocannabinoid system (ECS)?
It all started in 1964 when a scientist from Israel, Raphael Mechoulam, was able to identify the two major compounds of the cannabis plant, THC and CBD. Being able to isolate these cannabinoids was a huge step in discovering the endocannabinoid system. It is a biological system that can be found in every living thing with vertebrae (e.g., mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians). Mechoulam realized that the cannabinoids connect with receptors housed in many of the cells in the body. By connecting to the CB1 and CB2 receptors, cannabinoids act as chemical messengers.
It wasn't until 1992 that researchers discovered that many cannabinoids work with our naturally occurring endocannabinoid system, each bringing a variety of properties. They were able to locate two cannabinoids that we excrete from our own bodies called anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonyl glycerol (2-AG). These cannabinoids form a wider system of intercellular communication within our bodies. This previously unknown system is now called the endocannabinoid system. It is associated with our bodies’ self-regulating processes, such as temperature and pH control. It is also involved in motor coordination, neuron protection, pain control, and appetite. The endocannabinoid system helps maintain complex biological functions, as well. This process is known as homeostasis.
CBD is only one of over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Research is constantly developing, and we have now learned that other cannabinoids have therapeutic effects as well. This could make them very helpful in the treatment of pain, cancer, and HIV.
What is CBD isolate?
CBD isolate is exactly how it sounds; pure, isolated cannabidiol. CBD isolate comes in a white crystalline powder and is 99% pure CBD. It is odorless and tasteless, making it an easy and efficient way to get your daily dose. During the extraction process, oils, waxes, chlorophyll, and other plant matter are removed from the herb. This process leaves you with nothing but pure cannabidiol. We source locally to ensure our product has no additives or contaminants and is grown according to organic standards.
What is full-spectrum distillate?
“Full-spectrum CBD is an extract that contains all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids.” —CBD Origin
This is the first result after the CO2 distillation process. This would be considered your purest form of the plant profile. From there, it can be broken down even further, pulling out specific cannabinoids and terpenes. This would then be called a narrow spectrum. Then the final process is isolating whichever compound is needed, like CBD.
The cannabinoids included in our CBD vape products are, CBDV, CBG, CBN, CBC, and of course CBD.
Studies show that there are many benefits to using the different cannabinoids. Our full-spectrum oil contains the following:
-
CBDV: anti-convulsion, anti-inflammatory, and anti-nausea properties; impacts pain and mood disorders; particularly effective in providing symptom relief for Crohn’s disease, HIV/AIDS, and MS
-
CBG: anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and anti-tumor properties; CBG has exhibited positive effects on cancer, glaucoma, inflammation, and skin diseases
-
CBN: sedative effect; anti-convulsion and anti-inflammatory properties
-
CBC: anti-inflammatory, antidepressant, antifungal, and anti-cancer properties
Is CBD isolate better than full spectrum or vice versa? This has been a topic of debate since CBD research began. The reality is that each option has its benefits, and sometimes one works better than the other or both work best together depending on your reason for using it. At CBD Therapy, we offer both options so you can decide.
How exactly am I supposed to use CBD?
Below are some of the easiest ways to get your daily dose:
-
Place it directly under your tongue: Place our CBD Tincture or Isolate directly under your tongue and hold it there for about 60 seconds. The CBD will then be delivered to your bloodstream via mucus membranes to provide the relief you desire. If you're looking for a treat, CBD Gummies are a fun and easy way to consume CBD.
-
Mix it into your beverages: Our CBD Honey, Isolate, and Tincture can be blended into any smoothie. The CBD isolate mixes easily into juice or any other liquid of your choice. The CBD-infused honey and isolate also dissolve great into your coffee or tea! According to studies, CBD may help in decreasing anxiety. Proponents, like Craig Leivent, PharmD, says that the combination of CBD and coffee will give you the alertness of coffee without the jitters.
-
Apply it topically: Our CBD Roll On is great for massaging onto achy spots and gentle enough to be applied to the face. Made with jojoba and vitamin E oils, the roll on is a soft and luxurious way to enjoy the benefits of cannabidiol. Our CBD Lip Balm is the best option for protecting your lips. Vitamins A, C, E, and B are found in abundance in CBD, along with up to 20 amino acids and essential fatty acids, like omega-3 and omega-6. The amino acids in CBD help reduce inflammation, redness, eczema, and dry skin, and clear up acne. Natural CBD therapy with our extra strength CBD Salve is another way to help protect your skin against the elements we experience daily. Because CBD contains so many amino acids, fatty acids, and omegas, it helps speed your body’s ability to make protein, which improves recovery time. Our CBD Body Butter has a consistency closer to a lotion. There is no added beeswax or water to this recipe, only pure and natural oils. Indulge and rub it all over, or use it for targeted pain spots.
-
Smoke it: If you're looking for immediate relief, products that can be smoked or vaped might be your best option. Thousands of testimonials and some scientific studies report CBD offers healing for all sorts of mental and physical health conditions, including anxiety, insomnia, pain, inflammation, and epilepsy. CBD vaping has a faster absorption rate when compared to edibles or topicals. The CBD is absorbed into your bloodstream through the lungs. It is common for the effects to be felt immediately or within the next few minutes. Great for a birthday, bachelor/bachelorette party, or for no other reason than to treat yourself.
How do I measure out my CBD?
Keep in mind that CBD isolate is 99% pure. A gram of CBD isolate will typically contain over 990 milligrams of CBD. This means that for each milligram of powder, you’re essentially getting one milligram of CBD. If you are wondering if you should increase your CBD milligram dosage, you should consider your severity of symptoms, body size, and prior THC-free CBD use. We recommend starting with the suggested dose, and then moving to a higher potency. See container for specific dosage, and feel free to contact CBD Therapy with any other questions.
**CBD is not a cure or treatment for any medical disorder; it is a potentially beneficial dietary supplement. Consult with your doctor before using CBD products. CBD can interact with some types of medication.**
